WELBY Holistic Healing Code of CONDUCT
All Welby Holistic Healing (WHH) INSTRUCTORS are expected to abide by the following CODE OF CONDUCT:
1. Respect each student’s right to privacy and confidentiality
2. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every individual.
- Within the context of the activity, treat everyone equally regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion and spiritual beliefs.
3. Treat each student as an individual.
- Respect the talent, developmental stage and goals of each individual student.
- Help all students reach their full potential.
- Improve students’ self worth and confidence.
- Encourage development of strong, healthy and resilient spirit.
4. Ensure the student’s time spent in class is a positive experience
- All students are deserving of equal attention and opportunities.
5. Provide a safe environment for training and competition.
- Ensure equipment and facilities meet safety standards.
- Equipment, rules and the environment need to be appropriate for the age and ability of the students.
6. Express concern and caution towards students who suffer from any form of injuries/ incapacities.
- Provide a modified individualised training program where appropriate.
- Allow further participation in training only when appropriate.
- Seek medical advice when required.
- Maintain the same interest, guidance and support towards students with impaired capacities.
7. Be a positive role model for kungfu/ tai chi/ well-being of the students.
8. Be fair, considerate and honest with students.
9. Be professional in and accept responsibility for their actions.
- Language, manner, punctuality, preparation and presentation should display high standards.
- Display control, respect, dignity and professionalism to all involved with kungfu/ tai chi/ qigong including coaches, officials, administrators, the media, parents and spectators.
- Encourage students to demonstrate the same qualities.
10. Refrain from any form of personal abuse/ harassments towards students.
- This includes verbal, physical and emotional abuse.
- Be aware of any forms of abuse directed towards students from other sources whilst under the care of WHH.
11. Any physical contact with students should be:
- Appropriate and necessary to the situation and the students’ skill development only.
12. Make a commitment to providing the highest quality service to students.
- Maintain or improve current qualifications and accreditation.
- Seek continual improvement through performance appraisal and ongoing coach education.
- Provide a training program that is planned and sequential.
- Maintain appropriate records.
13. Operate within the rules and spirit of kungfu and tai chi.
- The guidelines governing the sport of kungfu and tai chi should be followed at all times.
Information for Students and Classroom Etiquette
WELBY Holistic Healing endeavours to provide a cheerful, secure and positive learning environment for all its students. Any student who does not show respect for his/her fellow classmates, instructor, the school, or the arts of kungfu and tai chi will be quietly asked to leave the school in order to maintain this philosophy.
Please ensure you treat your fellow classmates and instructor with respect and courtesy at all times. Engagement in any derogatory, abusive, harassing or rude behavior is prohibited. Likewise if anyone treats you in that manner, be sure you advise your instructor immediately.
All term tuition fees are payable no later than the second week of any term. If you missed your “normal” class, you are welcome to join any other classes across the week within the same term where available. Please advise your instructor as soon as possible.
Students will receive emails/ notifications of dates of the forthcoming term during term break; please check your email, calendar and diary. If you decide to pay-as-you-go at a casual rate for the term, please advise your instructor on week one of the term. Please wear comfortable, loose clothing to class. Flat-sole, soft shoes or any footwear that does not impede your capacity of balance will be acceptable.
Please bring adequate water and keep hydrated throughout your training session. This is paramount especially during summer. Please refrain from overeating or drinking just before class. Small snacks during the class is allowed if students need to keep their sugar level up, but please do so in discretion and ensure you do not disturb the rest of the class.
Warming up before any exercise is critical. Part of your class time is devoted to the appropriate warm-ups and warm-up training for your session. If you are late to class, please make sure you warm-up on your own before joining in.
While we run classes to suit all ages and fitness levels, please consult your doctor prior to commencing classes if you suffer from any medical conditions, which you believe may be affected by exercise. Please talk to your instructor if they need to be aware of anything in particular. If you suffer from any pain or discomfort during class, or become unusually fatigued, nauseous, dizzy, unexpectedly breathless, have chest pains or any other symptom, please advise your instructor immediately. In the case of pain and discomfort, your instructor should be able to modify the movements to alleviate the problem. In all other cases, we will arrange suitable medical care. We are there to make you feel comfortable and have an enjoyable experience.
