Mulan Quan Bendigo

Mulan Quan (木蘭拳) is a form of martial arts-based exercise developed from the traditional Mulan Huajia Quan (木蘭花架拳). It emphasises the concepts of concealing martial arts moves in conjunction with dance moves.

By combining calisthenics and dance moves, Mulan Quan enhances your cardiovascular system by reducing vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure. It increases your fat metabolic rate, reduces cholesterol levels, and improves your bone density. It also provides you a definite improvement in balance and core stability with a strong focus on flexibility and buttocks and upper thigh strength.

In 1988, the Chinese State Commission for Physical Culture and Sports further assisted the development of Mulan Quan and officially accepted Mulan Quan as the 130th form of Chinese Wushu (Martial arts). Beside the three standardised national forms of Mulan Quan, Mulan Fan and Mulan Sword, Mulan Quan generally divides into two main styles today: Ying Style (應美鳳) Mulan Quan (softer and more dance like) and Shanghai DSJ (上海大世界中國木蘭拳) Mulan Quan (more martial arts like).
