As a Physiotherapist
Raymond always thinks outside of the box and looks at the human body holistically. He is not satisfied with his orthodox training in university as he always wanted to know and do more. After graduated from the University of Otago in New Zealand, he has vast experience in both public and private sectors over the past two decades and has an innovative individualised approach to every clinical presentation, as he believes everyone is unique and no one client is the same as another.
In 2007 Raymond moved to Bendigo and has been living there since. Besides being the first practitioner to bring kinesio taping to the region he is regarded as one of the most experienced physiotherapists in myofascial dry-needling combining neuromuscular acupuncture techniques. Since 2009, Raymond has attended every musculoskeletal-related acupuncture workshop and seminar organised by China Books Education in Australia. In 2015 he followed his dreams and completed Advanced Constitutional Facial Acupuncture ™ certification under Chi-Akra Centre (USA) with facial acupuncture pioneer Mary Elizabeth Wakefield.
Raymond’s clinical expertise lies in facial pain, bells palsy, trigeminal lesion and temporomandibular joint (jaw) dysfunctions and has been helping clients with such conditions recover successfully. His other passion is to assist individuals to rejuvenate and look their best with facial acupuncture in order to lift their spirits to achieve both physical and mental wellness. On top of that Raymond is the only physiotherapist who has completed both APA (Australia Physiotherapy Association) accredited vocal physiotherapy and dance physiotherapy training in regional Victoria. Given his long-standing martial arts and movement background he excels in movement analysis and has special interests in treating dancers, theatre performers and martial artists.
As a Martial Artist
Raymond started his formal wushu/ kungfu training back in early 90s under the Hong Kong Wushu Union.
Since 2000 he has been studying taijiquan (tai chi) and qigong (chi gung) under the tutelage of Grandmaster Madam Kit Chan from Macau, China. Raymond is also the private student of famed international action movie star Cynthia Rothrock for additional kung fu training and he frequently travels back to Hong Kong to receive specialised training in the Mulan Quan system at the China Hong Kong Oriental Martial Arts Club under Master Shirley Wong. Along his martial arts and wellbeing journey he has competed in numerous national and international competitions winning more than 80 medals, awards and championships along the way.
Raymond has a broad understanding in all styles of traditional Chinese martial arts but is most passionate about Yang style tai chi, and loves teaching the Mulan Quan System and kung fu styles that combines both Northern and Southern techniques.
As an enthusiastic physiotherapist and a devoted practitioner of kung fu and tai chi, his international achievements are a reflection of the dedication and skill that he brings to these arts. He strongly believes that to combine Oriental and Western medicine is the way to optimise rehabilitation, injury prevention and management, and to promote health and wellbeing holistically.
